Hello! from Rona

Hi Whanau,
Its been some time since I've visited the website and it was only thru reading emails that I saw the discussion "Thank You Margret" and decided it was high time I had a little squizz.  The photo of mum, when I first looked at it, didn't register becos of the name Lal???  Is this the correct spelling?  Where did she get that name from?  It something I'd never heard before.  Anyone with more details??

Reading the clipping about Uncle Ike as you say Margret was a little gem, and seeing cousin Joe at the opening of the Park in London, well it gets me all emotional....but then I'm just a real softie when it comes to things like that.

As I said before, it has been a while since I've contributed anything to the website.  I have had the occassional glimpse now and again, but............. yes well.  Lots of excuses I suppose, but to put it midly "Life's a bitch......" and last year was a real doozy.  Never mind, we get thru and life goes on.

Last Christmas, we had a little reunion - kinda.  Brother Terry ventured over from the land of Oz with daughter Eleanor and grandson Reece.  Dennis & Irene, Terry, Eleanor & grandson, Laura, John, all her children and mokos, myself, Gerald and Terri, (Eugene couldn't make it), Joey & Lionel.  We all shared Christmas dinner together in Hawera and a rather long night of festivies afterwards.  It was really great to have us all together, even tho it was for such a short time.  Too damn short but oh so very sweet.

Just something to share with the whanau.  Eugene graduates from Victoria this year and has informed me that he has put his application in to join the Air Force.  I can see more tears coming up very soon on both counts.

That'll do from me for now.  Hopefully I'll get my A into G a bit more often and keep in touch???????? I hope.

Welcome back for 2007, Rona

My Dad used to refer to your Mum as Lel/Lal, probably short for ELeanor, though Tuppence was the usual name. Isn't the photo of her with nana and Aunty Marj Harper a lovely one?
I sent you an email about 7 months ago, or maybe less, asking how you all were.
Good to hear of Terry with Eleanor and Reece meeting up with the Taranaki whanau and yourselves from Wainui and Joey's from Mangere.
Good on Eugene for completing his university studies.

Hi Margret,
was Pop born in Ireland because Adam has been asked by Harvey Norman to stay in Ireland and manage a store for 2 years but he needs a bit of a hand in getting his new visa, his company is also trying for him but I thought as a whanau we might be able to assist because if Pop was born in Ireland and we had a birth certificate then he has a definite chance in getting his visa extended.

Dear Deacon Dennis

Sorry to not be of help with the fact that Pop was born in Auckland, NZ as was his sister Eleanor after whom your Mum was named.

About ten years ago the Ireland government came up with a change in grandparent status and I do wish that I had been privy to that right years ago.

I'll keep on thinking of ideas but often publicity is one way of attention! Otherwise, Harvey Norman make him an essential employee to their operations in Ireland..
