A New Year 2006

A New Year - 2006

The Herald Island Father Christmas Parade, held on Christmas Day morning, was the best parade for a decade.  There were plenty of floats and several classic American cars made their appearance, thus making the parade longer than it could have been.  The women folk, yes, sexist we are here, received a long stemmed rose, and children treated to sweets/lollies.  Along our part of the Ferry Parade, we met neighbours and exchanged banter with each other.

Our two kids have been camping, one went to Tutukaka and she achieved infamy as being a snorer.  The other has not come home with tales about his exploits: he hovered around Whangarei Heads as he's due back today.  Update:  he and girlfriend got back with a four hour drive from north of Wellsford - a 70-km traffic jam down into auckland.  a diversion off Highway 16 owing to a car crash.

I've heard that Mum is going camping with Val and Malcolm and their kids at Opunake.  The Taranaki beaches host fine carnivals.

Jack and Mari in Brisbane enjoyed the music piped to them from Vienna.

The who's who of birthdays in January:

Heimaria Makiha (granddaughter of Aunty Tuppence and Uncle Pei, on the 4th, Pauline, wife of Neville, 16th , Mona, wife of Hip (Mum to me), 15th, James Elkington 21st, Dennis Patuwairua 23rd and Carmella Snooks 14th.  E&OE
