Move to Auckland, eating KFC and Sherrie in Shanghai in 2005

From: Margret Sent: 15/05/2005 3:35 p.m.
It'snearly half a year over and some whanau have been having exciting trips.  Several continents for Trish who is deemed to be arriving in NZ tomorrow.  We have had Sherrie's experience of China to read ...

'GREAT BALLS OF FIRE  (OOPS GREAT WALL OF CHINA) - WHERE THE FIREWORKS CAME FROM

At last we have Sherrie's photos of the Silk Road and the Great Wall of China.  Thanks for the contribution, Sherrie.

UPDATING RECORDS

Calling in from the Bell Block, Taranaki is Kellie Adlam, nee Whale, who is a noted genealogist, if you follow this erstwhile hobby.  Kellie has been working extremely hard and is devoted to the development of some 4,000 names in the database of the Adlam family.  Kellie's enthusiasm runs to including all of the Fentons' whanau in her update that includes Laurie Ward's fine work.  Kellie invites us to complete BDM (births deaths marriages) data, photos, newspaper clippings, articles, published works to be included in the book for us all to enjoy.

I've heard from Wayne that he's still an offscreen reader of webpage and that Jackie is also a reader.  Val continues to read and contribute.  Cousins Jasmine and her aunt Laura are not active email addressees; 'Bubby' my cousin Frances from Christchurch has an ineffective email address too.

Ronnie, of Settlement Road, Moerewa, is at home and you can send him a letter or card telling him and wife Marie as to how you are getting on.  Danny and Nola made a visit to their Moerewa home recently and back to their Ruakaka holiday home.

Sunday, Mother's Day,Keegan arrived from the 'naki, in preparation for starting his new job situated at the junction of Northcote Road and Taharoto Road at TelstraClear, as a Customer Support Specialist.  We wish him well for a challenging job and in dealing wwith the notorious Auckland traffic jams.  In fact, his first day meant that he was up at 5 am and left home, here on Herald Island at 6.10 am and was farewelled by mum Val-Jane and dad Malcolm whilst Nana Mona  snored the early morning hours away.  She was probably dreaming of the stopover at the Hamilton Casino en route to Waitara.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY FOR 1ST MAY

Mari got her wish.  She is the quintessential Pin Up Girl for MCDonalds.    Oops, I mean the Essential Pinup Girl for Colonel Harland and the KFC operations.

With your diet of KFC, SuperSize Bucket; Mari you are a wonderful example of Elegance, Composure and sublime Good Taste.  (Me and Keegan will be dining with you asap)  The old adage, a little of what you fancy does you good.

Trish's journeys have taken her to exciting places and it is a pleasure to see her postcards. She may not know that we have been privy to them but I am grateful for Mari and Jack sharing them. They'll probally inspire Sherrie to visit the Middle East and Asia Minor and for Danny to commend these ladies to travel.

Darryn in the UK could share his views on visiting Cornwall. How about it, DJ?

I have to put in some effort but the report from China Girl(David Bowie) requires some reading so THANKS TO YOU SHERRIE for doing us all the honour of a great review of your trip to China.

I've just returned from a daystay at Auckland City Hospital and experienced an angiogram. If you want this done, go to this hospital, great nursing and theatre staff.

Any other whanau adventures are great to learn about. Share, please
