Mrs Te Here Taniwha Mrs Te Here Taniwha, who is believed to have been between 105 and 110 years old, has died at Taiporohenui, near Hawera.  Mrs Taniwha was married to Muroa Panapa, a member of the armed constabulary at Parihaka, in the 1880s. After his death she married Mr T. Adlam. She had one daughter by her first marriage, Hitapairu (Mrs Edwards), who died many years ago.  Mrs Taniwha is survived by six grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren In the absence of hearing from anyone else my mother said:  she had made the trip from Waitara, bound for Picton.  The first night's stop was only some 35 minutes down the road with a moe at a home in Normanby.  The next day her drivers took her down to Wellington but the ship was loaded with lots of paras taking up the deck space, and so they were turned back.  Second night they stayed in Porirua.  The next day there was both space on the ferry and for the three travellers.  Thus on the three days to get to Picton the drivers and navigator and the backseat driver got lost some 29 km from the Waikawa Marae.  Talk about Lost in Space.  Mum said that she had a great trip to the tangi of Jim.  The return trip took two days.  Danny and Nola are making their regular trips to their Ruakaka abode.  They have had contact with sister-in-law Marie Fenton and her family at their Moerewa home.   Danny also has been in contact with cousin Gloria a week ago.  Aunty Mona made the journey to the Waikawa tangi of Jim, held last Thursday.   Over in Brizziland, Jack has surely got another or a new computer because he has been surfing the Internet and finding more jokes to entertain us.
