PANUI

The sad event to share with the family is that Dad, Uncle Hip, has passed away tonight, Friday, 12 August.  His tangi is due to be held at Kairau's Hungaririki Marae, in Matarikoriko Road, Waitara with the funeral on Wednesday, at 11 am. Photo by Roger.

August and anniversaries and birthday of Laura.

11th August Laura will celebrate her birthday.

On Saturday, the last minutes of July, the weather was sunshine and mild, ie it was not hot!  But, lo and behold a Monarch butterfly flew between Keegan and myself.  Most peculiar to see it when winter is still settling itself.

Gloria phoned to share news about her brother-in-law Jim who has been in Wellington and is now in Blenheim recuperating.

Danny and Nola popped in for a lightning visit before going off to the swimming carnival in Henderson where their granddaugther Megan was competing.  She gained numerous places in the top four in something like six events.  She is some 30 seconds off an Auckland record; her devotion to swimming is noted by Danny and Nola as full of commitment.

In the club's July 2005 newsletter Megan is mentioned:  I would like to acknowledge the following swimmers for their hard training. I can only come 2 to 3 times a week to help out with the Orcas but I have noticed in particular Oscar Cornfield, Sophie Dennan, Megan Fenton, Elliot Crene and Ashley Williams. I know a lot more of you have been training hard but these swimmers have stood out when I have been watching. I now challenge you all to lift your training efforts!!!

Well done, Megan, smiling in her pink hoodie, with sister Jenny.
