Cold in Taranaki this morning July 2005

Cold in Taranaki this morning!

If you are finding email from this website horrendous, there is still opportunity to get huge storage from having a gmail account.  Let me know if you want an invite sent to you.  I endorse this email facility.

The reason why you can read the stored Welcome Pages from the FentonsofWaitara site is because Microsoft allows the messages to be sent; hence, this is a way of having them stored as archives and we benefit by this.

AN OPPORTUNITY TO ACCESS THE CATALOGUE OF THE NEW ZEALAND FILM ARCHIVE

Deposited in the archives of the 'NZ Film Archive' are the 8 mm and super 8 mm films that encompass many Fenton family of 27 Blake Street activities.

The website is: http://www.filmarchive.org.nz/

You can keyin Fenton view the catalogue listings of the films deposited.  In the main are the films taken by Dad (Hip, Fauntleroy), Mum (Ramona) and myself (Margret).  My film, shot during 1963, is not as whanau important as the Te Atiawa trip to Picton in 1960 done by Mum.  The other films, hours of shooting, are Dad's work.

As the films were ageing, the Film Archive was a sensible choice of repository.  What can you do?  You can make viewing requests of the silent films; glimpses of the tangi/funeral of Nana (Laura Fenton).  The tangi of Jimmy Manu(White) and glimpse the Fenton children at the Manukorihi Marae.  You can glimpse Aunty Tuppence diving and swimming at the waterhole favourite of Waiongana.  Even though there is double-exposure, there is a catalogue listing of 'Val on Stilts'.  Val is 'walking' around the lawn at 27 Blake Street; this image was listed as a New Zealand game. The film shows Aunty Zoe and Uncle Fred arriving and walking up the same lawn.

See how the site is organised and what you can gain from it

GEE, IT WAS COLD IN THE 'NAKI

This morning the icy night brought a heavy frost and kind Vicki went outside to de-ice her car and my van before we manouevred them out of the drive of 27 Blake Street.

Mum cooked me spaghetti and sausages with poached egg on toast before the return journey to Auckland with nephew Keegan who had a few days off work. Keegan enjoyed McD's, of which he had bought me a burger to enjoy but I HAD to refuse after Mum's meal.

Val brought Keegan out to Waitara and also children Fraser and Courtney. Courtney, a desperate afficiando of text message got a message from the Technology Guru that made her inputted text come out back to front. Clever girl, Courtney.

Vicki and children Nauatu and Ahumai were in Taranaki to meet up with sister Trish and enjoy hearing stories about her travels to continents of Europe and Africa.

We saw Dennis for a lovely long chat on Wednesday and Mum and I heard of plans for the homestead at Rona Road and talked about the PKW shares for the whanau to have a chance to access
