2004 November -The Starr Report by Rona

Hello Folks,

After a bout of PMT and a bit of a "to do" with 'He who must be obeyed' yesterday, I'm not sure whether I'm in a fit state to write about the above mentioned report. Even though a whole day has lapsed, reading this Report has certainly put me on the defensive.

Firstly, I must confess to being a Bill Clinton fan, even before he became President.  It must be this "Southern" thing that I have.  Maybe in a previous life I had something to do with the South, as I do seem to have a passion for things from the south.  Books, cooking, period clothing,(I'd love to be able to dress up and parade around in crinolines & lace) and men?.???........................well I'll leave it at that for now.  Anyway back to MR STARR & co.

I was looking forward to reading this report, but after only getting half way through it I've given up.  I actually thought, (silly me) that it was going to detail his findings on the Whitewater Investigation.  It would've been interesting to read another side of the argument concerning that, as I have only read what Hillary Clinton wrote, and not much of that was in any way complimentary to Mr Starr.  According to her he disrupted, tormented and caused havoc with many people's lives.

But I digress.  I find this report to be an effort by Mr Starr to "get" the President (for want of a better word) because of his inability to find any substantive evidence to link, convict, call it what you like the President and Mrs Clinton to the Whitewater debacle.  The entire paperback edition of over 500 pages is dedicated to what happened between the President and Monica Lewinsky.  After the first 100 pages I got totally disgruntled and started throwing the book around, literally!  It almost reads like a porn magazine - not that I've read that many!  (I only read the articles - as they say). I perservered and read another 150 pages and then gave up in disgust.  I'm glad the "thing" only cost me $2 at our second hand bookshop - and for me it wasn't worth that!

It seems my bout of grumpiness is still with me, but once I get my nose into another book I'm sure it will banish all bad thoughts from my mind.  I have two books to carry on with.  "Kill The Messenger" - Tami Hoag and "Medium Rare" - Jeanette Wilson (who by the way lives in Taranaki).  She was a career orientated woman, who was very high up in the banking world in London, and is now a "medium" who "talks to those on the other side".  Big change huh!

I just had a horrible thought, how many others are going to be reading this and my "not very nice" remarks concerning the above.  Whoops......................................oh publish and be damned!!  AND with that I will love and leave you.  I'm off the have a well deserved coffee.

A View of the President
An exciting review especially as the $2 was too much to pay for a potboiler story. The fact that Linda Tripp became involved made Whitewater become a non-issue when Mr Starr, etc was probably aiming for another target. Much more exciting to read your reviews than to imagine my own will make print with stuch style as yours.
thanks for telling us of the Jeannette Wilson author of the 'naki.
Cu, Margret
