Posted by JOHN McDONALD on 28/02/2003, 17KBA Farewell to our Aunty Es.

A tribute to a lady who was the best Mum to Mari , grandmother of Stephen and Jo-Ann, great grandmother of Ricky, Kirsty and Nicola.  To know Mari is to take on board that she adored her Mother.  To Jack, she was the best Mum in the world and Aunty Es's love for him was very strong as was his loyalty to her.  They were members of the famous Coffee Club of Ascot with Mari as their sidekick.  They were a team, The Inseparables.

Aunty Es passed away at her home in Brisbane today, Monday 23 February.  We say haere ra to a Lovely Lady.

FLOOD PLAINS  AND HARD WORK www.ourregion.co.nz

Cousin Vicki writing:  Two days ago Jack wrote the following:  "After hours of surfing through everything I could think of with the subject of floods, Manawatu, etc, I found my way to catch up with the fire brigade, Rongotea and could read about all of their exploits.  From saving people on rootops, on barn rooves and any high ground positions, collecting them in four-wheel drives right through to jetboats.  I had little joy in getting hold of Vicki until 11.30pm NZ time when she was sent home for a few hours sleep as she was knackered having been on duty since Sunday."

Being an ex-territorial and well-used to serving the community, Vicki has extended herself and is a hard-working member of the Rongotea Fire Brigade as a volunteer.  If you would like to contact Vicki to see how she is faring, contact her direct.
