2008 January - Melbourne trip for Joey, Laura, Terri, Rona to visit brother and uncle Teri

Nearly end of January and back to work looms

We have a family website that has had a major boost with the Melbourne  trip photos that came in from Rona from Wainui with sisters from Auckland (Joey)  and Taranaki (Laura), and daughter (Terri)  from  Wainui as well.  The photo of Terri on the tram made me think of somewhere in a European scene for a model.  Were some of the children of Terry and Marlene in the photos?  I wondered if any of Laura's sons were on the trip too?  The weather looked real good for the holiday trip.

Auckland has it's Anniversary Day on Monday:  I hope the weather is fine.  Roger's lecturer at the Drucker Business School at Claremont University is visiting NZ currently.  Karen and her spouse are due to leave NZ on Monday, 28th Jan.

As this is your home page, Jack and Mari.  Here is the sad news:  Eileen, sister of Michelle, Jackie, Trish and Vicki, has suffered a bereavement.  Trish and Vicki, and her daughter, are staying with Mum in Blake Street.  Kent, Eileen's husband, was involved in a car accident. http://www.stuff.co.nz/dailynews/4368808a6002.html.  (Aynsley has said that you got to speak to her - and you've told me that you've got through to Trish and spoke in person to her.)   Darryn read the newspaper story online but, like me, would not have connected it to Eileen's husband.  Our aroha goes out to Eileen and her baby.  Farewell to Kent.

Hello to Julie who looking forward to her baby due in May.  Darryn sounds like he's buying his toys under the guise of getting things ready for Baby Fenton-Taylor.  Julie, if you want anything for the baby, make sure that that you get equipment with some element in it for Darryn to play with.  Great to see the photos of you Julie.

A lovely couple of days in Auckland; strike a light, Blue!  Over the ditch, since crossed by the two kayakers who landed at Ngamotu last week, we are rewarded with a photo of Jack and Stephen bound for the island resort on Stradbroke Island.  Stephen's son is featured below as a ferry captain of a catamaran cruising the Brisbane River.  Thank goodness those who wanted to consider renaming Taranaki maunga never thought to rename the mountain after Rat1 and Rat2.

"This is the new City Cat Ferries which cruise the Brisbane River and carries 175 Passengers, our

Grandson Ricky, (Stephen' s Son) holds a Masters Certificate and "Skippers" these. Jack"

Thanks for adding a bit about where you now live, Adam.  Did you have any success in finding our Fenton relatives or have ideas how we can get information?  Do you have a couple of photos you would be happy to share of your Ireland experience?  I could ask Courtney to furnish one of when you visited her and Val and Darryn and Julie in their Shere village.

One of January's birthdays was the 78th birthday for Mum on 15th January.  Many Happy Returns, Mum.  Darryn made her very happy with a special cake delivered from the Collin Street Bakery in Corsicana, Texas.  It is a cake to hide from others, it's more important than whitebait or crayfish. Dennis achieved his 59th birthday on 23rd Jan and congratulations to him. Heimaria Makiha and her birthday on the 4th and south Aucklander Pauline Fenton celebrated on the 16th and Carmella Snooks, Heimaria's cousin, had a birthday on the 14th.

Remember that this webpage is not styled in the MySpace or Facebook modes; it is a simple site and I do appreciate your sharing.  A past HAM radio acquaintance who Dad Hip met in the late 80's has noticed this webpage.  Randall E. Murphree of Alabamba sent a message to find out what happened to Hip over the years.  In common, Dad and Randall had a friend called Dick James, also a HAM from Alabama.  For several years Dick used to send the deluxe fruit cake from the Collins Street Bakery from Texas and we can blame him for the Blake Street Fentons' addiction to this sensation cake that Darryn recently organised for Mum.

Thanks for sharing, Arohanui from Margret
