Sharing Old Photos - sharing them is Don Hamlin, Aunty Marj Harper's nephew

Thanks to Don for sharing the old photos emanating from his family.  Dennis has written that he saw some photos of his family at the home of Uncle Tui and Aunty Ruby.
If any of us have photos of the Fenton siblings, or the Rona, Adlam, Harper or Duane families, it would be nice if we could share them,

Margret, cousin of Rev Dennis Patuwairua

Aunty Marjory Harper's Album

Don Hamlin has handed this to me and I will slowly get the photos of this cute little album that recorded Aunty Marj's trip to Waitara from 1928 placed on our website. The photos are charming and they show Marj and her brother Claude enjoying their cousin's hospitality on the farm at Rona Road in Brixton, Waitara.
Claude did not survive WWII and died in Libya. He was posthumously awarded the Military Medal.

Margret, what a great achievement obtaining the loan of this wonderful collection of photos compiled by Marjory Harper covering her many visits to Nana Fentons Homestead in those earlier years.
We are all indebted to Don Hamlin for his generosity in allowing all of us the opportunity of being able to view this wonderful collection passed on to him by Marjory.
Viewing these photographs brings back many Happy memories of time spent out there at Rona Road, seeing all those photos of my Nana,Pop,Aunties and Uncles taken in those early years when the Family were such a close Family Unit brings tears to my eyes.
The Family Home with all the Family there, the cows, the horses, this is just how I remember Rona Road, they certainly were the years,so much joy and happiness.
We must endeavour to contact all the Whanau, let them know about these photo's,let them see photo's of their Parents in those early years, this is compulsive viewing for all.
Once again, thank you Margret and Don for making this possible.
Arohanui,Mari.

Keep up the Good Work,

Hello Whanau,
Yes, isn't it great to see all these photos!! Looking at the latest one of the family sitting watching the Regatta. Seeing Mum & Dad when they were young and Dennis too! So angelic? In some of the photos I've seen, I look at Mum and see Val, and looking at Aunty Ruby in this particular photo, it's Vera. They really are a treasure tove of memories. Thanks Margret.

Hi Rona

We were down the hill at the Hutt Park for Waitangi weekend. Thought about turning up at your place. Getting the regatta hoto from Aunty Marj Harper's nephew was oneof the bonuses of our visit to meet Don and Louise Hamlin. I had wished that my Dad had been about to see the album as he would have been charmed to see the photos. The regatta photo of your Dad was of a stylish man with those aviator glasses: just like Uncle Ike had worn in the book on the 486 squadron.
Thanks for adding your comment: Nice to see photos of your mum in as a toddler and mother. Do you have any to share?

Hiya,
Unfortunately we have very few photos, if any, of us when we were small, or any of mum & dad for that matter. I don't know what happened to the photo albums that we had. I have heard differing stories about who and where they might have gone, BUT............! That's why seeing these photos are really an absolute treat. I laughed at the ones of mum when she was a toddler. Gorgeous!! Eugene had blonde/gingery coloured hair when he was toddler and I know where he got it from now.
I absolutely love looking and seeing these old photos and although it brings with it a sense of happiness, I also find it saddening as well - and at times can get overwhelmed with the emotion of it all. But as I've said before I'm just a big sook!

Hi Rona
I don't mind this padder tennis of replies. I have hope that our other cousins will look through their photo albums or their memories and commit towards sharing views about our parents.
I reckon that Aunty Rita's family will help you and Uncle Ike's family with photos. The unexpected album from Aunty Marj Harper's holidays was so very welcome. I was delighted to have seen the Eden Park photo of Nana and your Mum and Aunty Marj (Dennis told me that he had seen that photo - I think).
If we can get in contact with any of the children of Tui Witoto, that's another possibility of a source of photos. Maybe the family of Nana's siblings themselves could be contacted.
Another point to think about: do you mind your family's photos being placed on the website?
