2003 April - Love to Brenda - breast cancer warning from her. Check your bosom, girls

From: Makalu1  (Original Message) Sent: 4/04/2003 9:22 p.m.
There's something plucky about our cousin, Brenda.  In all of the years that I have known her, she is an inveterate pragmatist.  She sees things quite clearly, she mets challenges and she NEVER lets things get her down.

She rang tonight to share the news that she has to be treated for breast cancer.  With her forthright attitude towards life, she sees the sharing of her plight as a means of educating her cousins to get breast screening done, particularly if any are over 50 years.

Brenda will have some five months of chemotherapy as a follow up to her operation next week.  These are the facts and she wants you to be aware that sometimes she might get a bit grumpy.

Not one to beat around the bush, Brenda asked her doctor/surgeon if she could carry on working.  Could she play tennis next Saturday?  A positive attitude has our Brenda, or maybe she'll be a bit bolshie about having to just plain slow down and recuperate at 50 kph and not Mach 3.

Brenda reads the website and you can easily click on Reply and send her your VERY BEST WISHES.  Alternatively you can email or write to her direct.
She was pleased to see that her birthday of yesterday was up on the website.  It made her feel special.

So, injecting a little 'Brenda-speak' and 'Gloria-speak', CHECK YOUR BOSOMS, GIRLS.

(Please be aware that Brenda has had this message read to her and it has been okayed)

Hugs and Kisses from all of your cuzzies.

Brenda regaled her recent shopping exploration with sister Gloria and the mission was to get a topknotch(!) wig. Write to her and ask about the 'where is my sister' in the shopping centre. Brenda is getting about and considering tennis or the club prizegiving challenges. She spoke to cousin Danny, who now works in nearby Diana Drive.
